Morning from PST. I woke up this morning at 4am. Forced myself to lie in bed for another hour, then got up and got to work. I’m really trying to make sure I do 1.5 hours of drawing every morning. I’ve been reading a lot of Viktor Frankl and watching a lot of Star Trek. I had a dream about Logotherapy and the “Will to Meaning” as it relates to Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker.
Perhaps there is an essay in there. Speaking of Essays. I’m probably half way finished with my “Falling Out of a Funk” essay about depression, meaning, and Fallout 4. I’ll keep you posted on that one.
If you haven’t played Fallout 4, or any of the Fallout games – you can see a nice little review by IGN here.
Progress is coming along with “Scared by the Bell.”
Actually – now that I’m looking at it. I think I’m going to re-draw Merlin so that he’s “touching down” like one foot on the ground, mid-motion touching down on the pavement – so as to connect to the previous three panels. Not sure what I’ll have my two bystanders do in this panel (or the third bystander who’s out there standing by the graveyard in the background – the graveyard as nap room for the zombies).
Been thinking about Vinland Saga by the amazing Makoto Yukimura a lot lately. This comic, my Gawd…. just epic, long narrative, great illustration, great storytelling. It’s an intimidating book. It’s about destiny, revenge, and lots of Vikings!
Not a lot of American books just go and go and go. It’s so nice to pick up a thick collection, love it, and realize there are 6 more volumes (and he’s not even done yet!).
That’s it for today!
